Simplicity is the answer for me

It can’t be easy to marry a Beatle. There’s a danger that fans will view you as a rival for your heartthrob’s affections.

Linda Eastman was a successful music photographer when she met Paul McCartney. She was also the first woman to have one of her photos used on the cover of Rolling Stone magazine. In the 1970s, she played keyboards in Paul’s new band, Wings.

When she and Paul wed in 1969, it was a second marriage for Linda. Paul adopted her little girl Heather, with their children Mary, Stella and James soon making their family complete.

Linda’s interest in animal welfare led the family to adopt a vegetarian lifestyle in the mid 1970s. By the mid 1990s, she had introduced the concept of tasty veggie ready-meals and meat-free sausages and burgers to the entire nation, winning many people over to healthy, meat-free food choices.

Linda McCartney is now one of the UK’s best-known brand names.

Linda was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1995, but despite treatment, the disease spread. She died on the family ranch in Tucson, Arizona, surrounded by the people whom she loved, and who loved her most.

A restful memorial garden has been dedicated to her in Kintyre in Scotland, where the family enjoyed happy times together, away from the public glare.
