Every dog has his day, unless he loses his tail and then he has a weak-end
June Carter a was well established country star long before she met Johnny Cash. She had been performing music since childhood and wrote Ring of Fire, one of Johnny’s most famous songs, before he became her third husband in 1968.
The song was inspired by the tempestuous early days of the couple’s relationship. They frequently performed and recorded songs and albums together and had a lively onstage rapport.
The fame of Johnny, who became known to fans as The Man in Black came to eclipse her own. But June insisted she didn’t mind: “He's a very rare man, a very good man, and I've had a good life with him. I'm proud to be walking in the wake of Johnny's fame” she said.
Johnny died died within a few months of June’s death in 2003. The couple were portrayed by Joaquin Phoenix and Reece Witherspoon in the critically acclaimed 2005 film Walk The Line.
