You can build your own things that other people can use. And once you learn that, you’ll never be the same again.
Without Steve Jobs, there would be no smartphones. This tech guru changed the way we communicate, work, and play forever.
The Jobs family moved to Paolo Alta in California - the heart of the Silicon Valley - when Steve was around six years old. His new proximity to the growing electronics and computing industry there meant that he could explore the future of technology, even as a child. He built his first computer at age twelve!
He dropped out of college to pursue his passion with his new acquaintance Steve Wozniak. Between them they built the Apple Computer Company, striving to build up the fledgeling concern from a garage, sometimes working for up to eighteen hours a day.
This dedication paid off, and they became one of the first companies to sell personal computers. From the Macintosh to the iPad, their famous design principles made them popular the world over.
Steve passed away in 2011 from cancer, prompting an outpouring of sympathy and plaudits from some of the most influential people in the world. But we may remember him whenever we pick up the devices his vision inspired.
